Aarti Holla Maini - Secretary General

Secretary General: Aarti Holla-Maini

Aarti Holla has been Secretary General of the European Satellite Operators’ Association (ESOA) since 2004. She was named one of the Faces of Satellite of 2014 by the Society of Satellite Professionals International and is Member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council for Space.

Under Aarti’s leadership, ESOA & the CEOs of its member companies lead the effort to showcase the benefits of satellite communications for society and foster a better environment to allow users to profit from satellite services that are available anywhere on land, at sea or in the air.

Aarti has eighteen years' experience in the aerospace industry, starting at Daimler-Benz Aerospace (now Airbus) in Germany, before moving to Brussels. She represented Galileo Industries towards European institutions on the European navigation system Galileo, working on the development of the public-private partnership scheme and management aspects of the Galileo programme. She has organized workshops on negotiation skills for young managers.

Aarti holds a Masters of Business Administration from HEC, France & Stern Business School, NY, USA. She qualified as Solicitor of the Supreme Court in the UK in 1995, holding a 2:1 graded LLB Hons Law with German Law degree from King's College, University of London & the University of Passau, Germany. Aarti lives in Brussels, has 3 children and speaks 5 languages.

Ania Szatkowska Helseth - Head of Public Affairs

Head of Public Affairs: Ania Szatkowska Helseth

Ania Helseth is Head of Public Affairs at the ESOA Secretariat. Her role is to maintain relationships with key public and private sector stakeholders and decision-makers. Ania is responsible for evaluating policy developments at the European Union and Member State level as well as for formulating of the Associations's positions, in the area of digital policies, spectrum management, access to broadband, broadcasting, UHDTV and emergency communications.

Before joining ESOA in March 2015, Ania managed the advocacy for the American Chamber of Commerce to the EU, focusing in particular on aerospace policies. She was moreover the main liaison officer in the organisation for its relations with the European Parliament. Prior to that, she served as a Policy Advisor at the Permanent Representation of Poland to the EU, during the time of the Polish Presidency. During her time there, she was involved in works on e.g. spectrum management and net neutrality. She started her career in Brussels as an MEP advisor in the 2004-2009 legislature and was then focusing on digital policy. 

She holds a Masters in Law cum laude from the University of Gdansk, Poland and in addition, an LLM from Oxford University.

Ms Helseth is fluent in Polish and English, and conversant in German and French.
